The Smithsonian American Art Museum displays the original of Albert Bierstadt’s “Among the Sierra Nevada, California,” but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the beauty of his views of the U.S.’s frontiers with this glowing poster. The Smithsonian’s gallery label notes that Bierstadt was a master at self-advertisement. He sold tickets to the unveiling of a new piece, then travelled it around before offering it for sale.
