This image comes from an original photographic negative in my collection. Here we see a wonderful view of the Italian Line's flagship, the Rex. This great ocean liner has the distinction of being the only Italian ship to capture the famed Blue Ribband for the fastest transatlantic crossing. She had a short, unfortunate life. She was launched in 1932, laid up during World War II, and destroyed by Allied bombing in 1944. Nevertheless in her time she was an art deco marvel of Italian design and engineering.
