St. Jude Thaddeus & Panic-stricken Duffer Square Sticker

This new sticker from Saints_Aplenty on Zazzle features St. Jude Thaddeus, best known as the "patron saint of hopeless causes" who can surely be invoked for help with challenging golf shots! The holy sportsman is outfitted with golf clubs and a golf bag. The image was made by remixing a traditional Catholic devotional image from the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera with elements from various public domain resources. The golf club he holds in his right hand replaces a cudgel significantly thicker at one end than the other in the original artwork. Ironically perhaps, according to some accounts, St. Jude was martyred by being beaten to death with a club before being beheaded postmortem. + Here, St. Jude appears in a scene touched by genial Christian humour with a semi-realistic vintage comic PD character. The Saint with cross held high succors a young, panic-stricken duffer trying to blast his way out of a bunker or sand trap with a pitch shot onto the green. The height of Victorian male fashion, he is outfitted in a white shirt and brown plaid sports suit accessorised with a burgundy cap and matching socks.
