St. Maximilian Kolbe Icon Prayer Magnet
St. Maximilian Kolbe Icon Prayer Magnet
Saint Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish Franciscan during World War II. His lifelong devotion to the Blessed Mother led him to establish the Militia Immaculata. He also operated a Catholic publishing press. Eventually, he died as a martyr in Auschwitz after volunteering to take the place of another man—a husband and father—slated for starvation. Saint Maximilian Kolbe is patron saint of drug addicts, political prisoners, families, journalists, prisoners, and the pro-life movement. His feast day is August 14th.
A brief prayer is printed under the icon image: "St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray I may, like you, bring love and sow seeds of hope even amidst despair."
Prayer magnets are lightweight and ideal for including in greeting cards, Christmas stockings, or to give as favours on special occasions.
This icon was painted by the hand of Julie Ann Cook in February 2015 in the traditional medium of egg tempera.
