True fact: back in the day, Washington’s birthday, February 22, was a national holiday (that would get you out of school for the day). In that same month was Lincoln’s birthday, February 12, was another national holiday, and another day out of school. There were different decorations one would put out for each holiday. The practice was ended in 1971 with the establishment of Presidents Day. (Considering how lousy so many of our presidents are, I don’t think they deserve a holiday. But that’s just me.)
