    St. Thomas Aquinas, called the "Angeli Doctor" and the "Dumb Ox," for, variously, his brilliance as a teacher and his taciturn, lumpy quietude as a student, looms large (both spiritually and physically) in the world of mediaeval philosophy. He is patron of academics, book sellers, colleges, philosophers, and pencil-makers, and is invoked against storms. His feast day is on 28 January, or 7 March if you follow the 1962 Calendar.
