Stickers - Lilac Clematis

The clematis has an unusually large number of "common names" or monikers, including: Traveller's Joy, Love Vine, White Vine, Ladies' Bower, Old Man's Beard, Devil's Darning Needles, Hedge Vine, Blue Jasmine, Vasevine, Ropevine and Devil's Thread. The most prolific, however, is "Virgin's Bower". Though there are many stories pertaining to how the flowering vine came by this name, the most widely accepted is a German legend in which, the wild clematis sheltered the Virgin Mary and Jesus during their flight into Egypt. The clematis comes in many colours and many varieties. Here, the lovely, icy lilac flower has been "singled-out" and separated from its vine and is offered on a wonderfully textural, dusty berry background that was "plucked" from the interior of the flower. These fabulous stickers are an excellent way of decorating packages, sealing envelopes or as additions to scrapbooks.
