I was lying on the ground photographing foliage one day when I heard rustling to my left. I looked up and saw a striped skunk crest a mound that was dotted with small ferns and a broken log. I slowly re-positioned my camera, and then his intent was obvious. He was heading in my direction. So I did what any self-respecting photographer would do. I snapped the picture, leaned over to pick up my camera back, jumped up, and ran like hell!
