Stylised Peacocks in Flower Garden Card
In this painting by my mother, two peacocks dance with another on a raised bamboo platform in a flowering garden. This style, described as "Tu-Aunqua", involved drawing out the design on tissue paper, transferring the design onto silk and filling it in with saturated oil colours. My mother learned this detailed approach, marked by the stylised birds and flowers, from her mother. The term itself may have come from a rough phonetic translation of "labour table painting" from Chinese.

We downloaded several photos which was simple and produced a very attractive personalised card for our 11yr old Granddaughter.
I was concerned that the card would not arrive on time but Zazzle came up trumps and the card arrived on the day before her birthday - perfect! I didn't see the card as it went straight to our family in New Zealand. However they did send a photo and it looked excellent!
