Swedish Flag w å - Clock

The modern Swedish flag first appeared in various forms shortly after the Viking Era. There are at least three contrasting accounts explaining the derivation of its distinctive color combination, but most historians agree that its final hues were confirmed in 1521 during the reign of legendary King Gustaf Vasa. This unique version of the flag is composed from the Swedish alphabet's most distinctive letter, the circle-a (å), which serves as its own pronunciation guide. The circle indicates that this character is pronounced similar to the long-o in English. The circle-a is found only in Swedish.
