Fantastic and imaginative illustration from the book “Les Métamorphoses du jour” published in 1869. Image titled “Swimming Lessons”, illustrated by J. J. Grandville, the father of Surrealism. Humans with animal heads enjoying a day at the pool. A bird in a red fez and blue striped trunks diving into the pool filled with a rat in a top hat and glasses, a smoking frog, a fish and a dog. Standing at the edge of the pool is a duck wrapped in a towel and a frog in read and white striped swimming trunks.
