Temptation of Sir Percival (Mediaeval Knight) Stone Coaster

This design features a painting by Arthur Hacker (1858–1919). It shows Sir Percival, who was one of King Arthur's legendary Knights of the Round Table. He is being teased by a stunningly beautiful woman, who is trying to tempt him to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh. She has given him food and wine. In the legendary story, the beautiful woman is actually the devil in disguise, trying to stop Sir Percival from obtaining the Holy Grail. She flatters and flirts with him until the very last moment, when Sir Percival realises the danger that he is in. The original artwork was painted in 1894.
