Temptations of Christ by Botticelli - Poster
This painting by Sandro Botticelli is in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican Museums. It includes five different scenes. On the top left, the Devil proposes to Jesus to turn stones into bread after Jesus did not eat for 40 days. On the top middle, the Devil asks Jesus to jump from the top of the Temple as angels will catch him anyway. On the top right, the Devil shows Jesus all the kingdoms of the world from the top of a mountain and promises him all these kingdoms if he worships the Devil. On the middle left, Jesus explain to three (or four) angels the ritual that is going on in the fifth scene in the foreground of this painting. The large scene in the foreground probably shows a blood offering ritual conducted by the High Priest.
