“Tetelestai” (τετέλεσται) is a Greek word that means "it is finished". It appears in the Gospel of John as Jesus' final words on the cross. Meaning: The word comes from the Greek root word “telew” which means to finish, complete, or bring to an end. In the New Testament, it was used on receipts to mean "debt paid in full". In a judicial context, it means "fully served". In a military context, it means "battle won" Jesus was declaring that the judgment for sin has been fully served, and the spiritual war against death, sin, and satan, has been completely won.
