The painting depicts a young, fashionably dressed woman in a Dutch-style interior, chraacterised by 17th-century elements such as a richly patterned carpet, a painting reminiscent of Paulus Potter, and an elderly servant. Central to the scene is an Angora cat, which has just discovered its reflection in a silver globe, possibly perceiving it as a rival. Behind this curious moment, the globe’s reflection reveals a woman painting at an easel in a small room with two other figures, adding depth and narrative complexity.
