The Awesome Andromeda Galaxy Mug

This is Messier 31, the Andromeda Galaxy. It has two little galaxy friends, Messier 32 and Messier 100, that orbit it. It’s been known since antiquity, described by Persian astronomer Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi in 964 BC as a small cloud. It’s bright at 3.44 magnitude and huge at over 3 degrees visually. It’s the closest galaxy to our own. Imaged on Vaonis Vespera Pro in one session in 2024.
