The Chalice by Stephanie Joyce Card
As the granddaughter of Dr. A. Dale Piers, who was noted as the key architect of today's Disciples denomination, and was once interim pastor of Park Avenue Christian Church (1978-79), it has been a pleasure to design a card to honour its 200th anniversary. The Chalice was chosen as a symbol to represent the Disciples of Christ denomination during my grandfather's term as President of the Church. This excerpt from the hymn, "We Call Ourselves Disciples," so beautifully portrays the meaning and symbolism of the Chalice. "The cup and cross before us, proclaim our hope above The sign of our Redeemer, the vessel of his love. We downloaded several photos which was simple and produced a very attractive personalised card for our 11yr old Granddaughter.
I was concerned that the card would not arrive on time but Zazzle came up trumps and the card arrived on the day before her birthday - perfect! I didn't see the card as it went straight to our family in New Zealand. However they did send a photo and it looked excellent!
