The City Rises (by Umberto Boccioni) Tissue Paper

This design features artwork by Italian painter Umberto Boccioni (1882–1916). "The City Rises" is considered by many to be the very first truly Futurist painting. The original title of the painting is "Work" (in Italian, "Il lavoro"). It is intended to capture the dynamism and energy of the modern city. A large horse can be seen in the foreground as several workers struggle to gain control of it, perhaps implying a timeless conflict between humanity and beasts. Chimneys and scaffolding on buildings in the process of construction can be seen in the background. The blurring of the figures suggests rapid movement and great activity.
