The French Square. Tile

The French Square. Tile

A navy blue feature tile or trivet to grace any bathroom or kitchen decor. Based on a french enamel sign commemorating the life of Eugene Revaillaud, a French lawyer. Coming from a family of teachers, Reveillaud began a career as a journalist and wrote in republican newspapers then, having obtained his law degree from the Faculty of Law of Paris , he joined the bar of Troyes. Eugène Réveillaud gradually moved away from Catholicism and became a convinced anticlerical republican. He was initiated into Freemasonry in Troyes. He then moved closer to Evangelical Protestantism to which he converted in 1878; on this date, he published a work, The religious question and the protestant solution , in which he exposes his conception of the relations between the State and the Church. Very involved in Protestant evangelisation, he founded, in 1884, a work intended to help priests converted to Protestantism. He also participated in the founding of the Coligny Company in order to finance the installation in Algeria of Protestant peasants who emigrated from the Freissinières valley (Hautes-Alpes), whom he also supported when they left to take possession of the lots. sold to them by the General Government of Algeria in the newly created village of Guiard ( Aïn Tolba ). Finally, radical deputy for Saint-Jean-d'Angély (Charente-Inférieur) from 1902 to 1912 then senator, from 1912 to 1921, he took an active part in the debates prior to the separation of the Churches and the State in 1905. He died on November 28, 1935, in Versailles

My fiancé and I were happy when we received the tile. It’s Peru and was worth paying extra for expressing postage. Good quality and it is exactly like we wanted it. We are very pleased.
