It depicts a young woman who is working as a goatherd in rural Italy; she is having a rest in the midday sun, taking a siesta. The girl is sleeping on a patch of grass. She is wearing a simple costume with a corset. Her feet are bare and she is wearing a blue scarf on her hair. There are lambs and goats in the background. One lamb is standing by her feet and looking at the young woman as she sleeps gracefully. The original artwork was painted by Carlo Ademollo in 1900.
