A Safe and Hidden Place - The Hideaway is a pastel painting that is a tribute to the child in all of us who doesn’t want to grow up. This colourful hideout is decorated with a tip of the hat to Matisse. These olive, Persian, apple and asparagus green layers are drooped over the side of the plum couch in the shape of large teardrops. Highlights of lavender and lime green make this nest sparkle. Over the top half of the child a vibrant pink, magenta and rose cloth is draped in a triangle shape. An amethyst, orchid and wisteria cloth with cream curlicues is draped over the lower half of the child in a square shape. The child is silhouetted through these brilliant cloths. Sea, forest, fern, shamrock and lime greens shift and alter across the background. You may experience peace, serenity and healing as you look at my work.
