The Hourglass Nebula Poster

This is a reproduction of the lovely and delicate image of the Hourglass Nebula taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. This planetary nebula is about 8000 light-years from Earth. The intricate gas clouds of ionised Nitrogen are shown in red, hydrogen in green and doubly-ionised oxygen in blue. For the first time this image shows the delicate details of ejected stellar matter. The nebula is located in the constellation of Musca and was discovered in 1994 by Raghvendra Sahai and John Trauger of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The image was released in January, 1996.
