This artwork is also known as Steps, Central Park or The Terrace Bridge, Central Park. A cityscape featuring crowds of people walking up and down the stairs in the park gardens. Some women are wearing their Sunday best clothes and carrying parasols to protect them from the summer sun. About the artist: Maurice Brazil Prendergast (1858-1924) was an American Post Impressionist artist who worked in oil, watercolor, and monotype. The style of his art had a mosaic like beauty.
