The Ninth Wave (Stormy Sea with Red Sunset) Tissue Paper

This design features a painting by Russian artist Ivan Aivazovsky (1817–1900). It is called "The Ninth Wave (Девятый вал), which is a reference to an old sailing expression about a wave of incredible size that comes after a succession of incrementally larger waves. The painting depicts a tempestuous sea after a violent storm; at the bottom there are people attempting to save themselves from death by clinging to debris from a wrecked ship.
