The Open Door, a non-profit licensed alcohol and other drug treatment centre in Indiana, PA, is forming a team of community members to walk in recognition of the National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month in September 2008. As many as 22.6 million people aged 12 or older in the United States are currently facing a substance abuse disorder, according to the latest national figures. This is more than people living with coronary heart disease, cancer, or Alzheimer's disease combined. Four million of those with a substance abuse disorder have made the courageous choice to seek out the treatment they need and embark on a path of recovery. We need to recognise the achievements of those who seek treatment services, celebrate their successes, and find help for those who are still in need. On September 13th, walk with The Open Door Team Recovery in recognition of "Steps Towards Hope, Courage and Recovery" at the Indiana Regional Medical Centre, Indiana, PA (registration 8 AM, walk starts at 9 AM).
