The Red Buoy (1895). Artist: Paul Victor Jules Signac (1863-1935). The Red Buoy (La Bouée Rouge) is a vintage pointillist fine art painting featuring a Mediterranean port scene with a red buoy and sailboats in the harbour in St. Tropez on the french Riviera.
About the artist:
Paul Signac was a French neo-impressionist painter who helped develop the pointillist style. With the influence of George Seurat he abandoned the short brushstrokes of impressionism to experiment with scientifically juxtaposed small dots of pure colour, intended to combine and blend not on the canvas but in the viewer's eye, the defining feature of pointillism.
