He is worshipped and praised by the angels who guarded his temporary resting place. Daffodils (representing hope and renewal) spring from the opening behind him. The hard stone that once contained him breaks under his emergence. In the right foreground a soldier’s helmet lies empty on the broken slab. The stigmata and stab wounds are visible in his hands and side. The angels adoringly look to him as he looks to his Father in the Heavens. Triumph, majesty, power and victory resound throughout this piece. Bloch has successfully captured a moment of true miracle and holiness.
