The Runaway Postcard
In the early days of the colonies, servants were obtained by signing a bond which guaranteed their transportaton costs. The bond servant was obliged to remain with his master until he had worked off his debt. Not uncommonly, some of the servants failed to meet their obligations when they came to the wide open spaces of this country and they would run away. The master would then be obliged to advertise for the capture and return of his servant to avoid a loss of his investement. This particular servant was bonded out as a tailor.

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
