Evolution, No. 15, Group IV, The Seven-pointed Stars (1907) is a work by Swedish painter Hilma af Klint, known for her pioneering contributions to abstract art and her spiritual approach to painting. This piece is part of her larger series, The Paintings for the Temple, in which she explores themes of spirituality, the occult, and the metaphysical. The painting features a geometric arrangement of seven-pointed stars, possibly symbolising the spiritual and cosmic dimensions. The vibrant colours and symmetrical composition convey a sense of harmony and transcendence. Af Klint’s use of abstract forms was ahead of her time and predated the more widely recognised abstract works of artists like Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian.
