The Tower of Babel (by Pieter Bruegel the Elder) Tile

This design features a painting by the Flemish Renassaince artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder (circa 1530–1569). The paintings depict the construction of the Tower of Babel, which, according to the Book of Genesis in the Bible, was built by a united humanity that spoke a single language to celebrate their great achievements. They wanted to build a tower tall enough to reach heaven. However, when God saw their city and tower, it is said that He gave them different languages, so that they can no longer understand one another, and spread them throughout the world. This painting was originally produced by Pieter Bruegel the Elder circa 1563, and it now housed in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, in Rotterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands.
