The full title of this Victorian Era painting is "Take the Fair Face of Woman, and Gently Suspending, With Butterflies, Flowers, and Jewels Attending, Thus Your Fairy is Made of Most Beautiful Things", a quote by Charles Ede. A vintage fine art Victorian Era fairy tale portraiture painting featuring a portrait of a beautiful young child, a girl holding a jewelled satchel and wearing a crown of butterflies on her head. About the artist: Sophie Gengembre Anderson (1823-1903) specialised in painting children and women, typically in rural settings. Her work is loosely associated with the Preraphaelite movement.
