This tie depicts a painting of the Indian princess, Matoaka "Pocahontas" Powhatan dressed in English-style clothing. She went to England with husband, Sir John Rolfe, and was presented to King James I and his wife, Queen Anne. She died of illness before they could return back to Virginia at Gravesend, England. It is believed that she died of TB.
