The Amalfi Coast is located between the Sorrento peninsula and Salerno. The "Lattari mountain", with their "calcareous-dolomite" rocks are the main mountains here. The Amalfi's coast il rich of Caves, built through the water erosion on the calcareous rocks. Between these caves, there is one, called "Grotta dello Smeraldo", that has typical karst and marine caves element. Amalfi, with its wonderful views, is the main town of the Amalfi coast. White houses cling onto the rocks opposite the Saint Andrew Cathedral, and the main square which is also the town centre.
