Beautiful artwork from the first edition of “East of the Sun and West of the Moon” (1914, Hodder & Stoughton, London) - Fifteen Norwegian tales collected by folklorists Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Engebretsen Moe and illustrated by phenomenal Kay Nielsen. “Tell me the way, then,” she said,” and I’ll search you out; that surely I may get leave to do,” is from the first North tale in the book of the same name. The illustration perfectly captures the curse, the challenge, and the true love they feel for each other. Stay enchanted and wondrous!
