True Towel Tales No. 5 of 6 Jigsaw Puzzle

20” x 16” jigsaw puzzle with a vintage image of an ad run by Cannon Mills for their Cannon towels. This ad shows a group of handsome, young sailors wearing white shorts while bathing in a river believed to be in India. There are two turbaned Indian men with spears and two elephants; one lying in the water and the other spraying water on one of the sailors. The text reads, “Hey, Turn off the Water Jumbo!” Cannon Towels ran these ads in WWII which were based on actual letters they received from the boys in the field about their products. The art was done by prolific artist James Bingham which shows off his excellent skills. The art is as such to tantalise the ad's audience, women, so what's better then a bunch of scantily clad soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen for all those lonely ladies back home?
