ukiyoe - 和漢百物語 No.09 - 小田春永 - Postcard

"和漢百物語 (Wakan hyaku monogatari)“ is a series based on Japanese and Chinese horror stories and heroic anecdotes by 月岡芳年 (Tsukioka Yoshitoshi). ＊No.9 小田春永（Oda Harunaga / おだ はるなが） 小田春永 (Oda Harunaga (織田信長 (Oda Nobunaga)) had the Great cycad, located in 妙国寺 (Myokokuji Temple) in Osaka Prefecture, moved to 安土城 (Azuchi Castle). However, the Great cycad began to moan every night, saying that it wanted to return to Myokokuji. Harunaga had 森蘭丸 (Mori Ranmaru) examine the Great cycad and instructed his men to cut it off, but the Great cycad struggled and suffered as fresh blood spurted from the wound. The story goes that Harunaga was so afraid that he returned the Great cycad to its original location. ＊I used data from the National Diet Library's Digital Collection and made colour corrections. ＊Any of my designs can be transferred to over a thousand other items and adjust the design to fit the product if you needed.
