"和漢百物語 (Wakan hyaku monogatari)“ is a series based on Japanese and Chinese horror stories and heroic anecdotes by 月岡芳年 (Tsukioka Yoshitoshi).
＊No.24 鷺池平九郎（Saginoike Heikurō / さぎのいけ へいくろう）
鷺池平九郎 (Saginoike Heikurō) is a farmer in Kawachi Province. One day, while he was fishing in the river, he saw a Uwabami (giant snake) on the surface of the water, trying to swallow him. He turned himself around and knocked down the giant snake, tore its jaws from side to side and threw it away.
＊I used data from the National Diet Library's Digital Collection and made colour corrections.
