Under the Dock Leaves - an Autumnal Evening's Dream (1878) by Richard Doyle is a vintage Victorian Era fine art fantasy mythology painting. The naturalism of the landscape contrasts with elements of fantasy with the small scale of the fairies. Fairies flying through the underbrush of the forest. In Western Europe, dock leaves are a traditional remedy for the sting of nettles. About the artist: Richard "Dickie" Doyle (1824-1883) was an illustrator well known in children's fairy tale literature.
