The Royal Monastery of Santo Tomás is a gothic style monastery of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain. It was founded as a Dominican convent to honour Saint Thomas Aquinas. The building began in 1482 on a site outside the walled city of Ávila. It became the burial place of John, Prince of Asturias, the only son of King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile.
