From 1849, full title: Map of the United States, the British Provinces, and Mexico ... showing the routes of the U.S. Mail Steam Packets to California and a Plan of the GOLD REGION. An inset of the Gold Fields and one of the route from the east coast around Cape Horn .. or a shortcut overland across Panama.
The word was out. Gold had been found and thousands of adventurers desired to know the best routes to it. The focus was San Francisco ... gateway to the riches.
At the bottom is a Distance Table from all points heading towards the gold.
