The Five Solas are five Latin phrases or slogans that emerged during the Protestant Reformation to summarise the Reformers’ basic theological beliefs and articulate faithfulness to Biblical Christianity. They are: Scriptura - Sola Scriptura ("by Scripture Alone"): The Holy Bible alone is the ultimate, authoritative and infallible word of God. Fide - Sola Fide ("by Faith Alone"): God’s justification of sinners, on the basis of the life, death, and resurrection of his Son, The Lord Christ Jesus, is received by faith alone and yields good works. Gratia - Sola Gratia ("by Grace Alone"): Salvation comes only as an unprovoked and unmerited gift from God. Christus - Solus Christus or Solo Christo ("Christ Alone" or "Through Christ Alone"): The Lord Christ Jesus is the sole mediator between God and man.
