He painted the beautiful impressionist work in Southern France in Saint-rémy-blanzy, during his stint in the asylum there, where he was allowed short supervised walks. Van Gogh is one of the greatest painters of all time, using striking colour, strong brushwork, and contoured forms. Actually a post-impressionist, Van Gogh significantly influenced the Expressionism movement.
