Van Gogh's Peasants or Farmers Planting Potatoes

Titled "Farmers Planting Potatoes" or "Peasants Planting Potatoes," this 1884 work reflects van Gogh's lifelong interest in rural workers and manual laborers. It is one of many paintings involving planting and potatoes. Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) was probably the most famous Post-Impressionist painter. Never enjoying a great level of success or recognition during his life, his posthumous stature has grown enormously, and he has arguably influenced almost every artist since.
