The Venus Flytrap, scientific name Dionaea muscipula, grows in open bogs in coastal North Carolina and northern South Carolina. It is also a popular cultivated plant. The beautiful botanical illustration is our unique colour version, based on a drawing by naturalist and artist Isaac Sprague, in The Genera of the Plants of the United States, author Asa Grey, published 1849.
