"Veronica's Veil" Greeting Card
"Veronica's Veil" - a portrait of Saint Veronica and her famous veil - the "first icon". An apocryphal story about the Saint, once this was a very popular theme for mediaeval & renaissance paintings (everybody from Memling to El Greco painted her at some point). I thought I'd paint her myself, as I always thought it was an interesting story. The visage of Christ on the veil is based off of one of my favourite portraits of him which hangs in the Nelson-Atkins museum by where I lived as a little girl (I always found it a very striking image). The light of the heavens pours down from a sunset, and St. Veronica has a very sweet and sad look about her. I like this one a lot. My husband Matt created a very nice arch cutout for the frame on the original piece. This is my own original acrylic painting.

We downloaded several photos which was simple and produced a very attractive personalised card for our 11yr old Granddaughter.
I was concerned that the card would not arrive on time but Zazzle came up trumps and the card arrived on the day before her birthday - perfect! I didn't see the card as it went straight to our family in New Zealand. However they did send a photo and it looked excellent!
