Victorian evening wear notebook

I got this marvellous image from a stack of stack of 1890s-1910 mounted prints owned by a retired antiques dealer, many of which originally appeared in the newspapers of the time. True fact: back in the day, the Philadelphia Inquirer would publish full-size, full-colour prints ever Sunday. Some of what I have are these original Inquirer prints. However, this lovely image came from a magazine of the period, and was captioned ‘Handsome Evening Toilettes.’ I can’t find any clothing-related definition of that word. Nevertheless, something beautiful that looks great on all kinds of EVERYTHING. Note that the print appears on both the front and back covers, in mirror image. Wanna see more old?
