It is often hard to tell what the product will actually look like, especially on shirts, prints and other larger scale products. This product is made from a very high resolution file which gives intricate detail and wonderful resolution. Here is a sample detail from the master files used to create our Karl Bodmer prints, which should give a better idea of what the resolution on the product will look like. The image below and the detail that open when you click the image are both full scale portions of the image that are at 100% of the actual size of the file used. In 1832, Karl Bodmer met Prince Alexander Philipp Maximilian, ruler of the small state of Neuwied, Prussia (now part of Germany). Known as Prince Maximilian of Wied, or Prince Max, Maximilian was a German explorer, naturalist and ethnographer searching for a draftsman to accompany him to North America. He selected Bodmerfor the expedition to the Great Plains region of the United States, along the Missouri River. Prince Max had led another well publicised expedition to South America, and the North American trip was to bring more notice with the publication of the 3 volume book from which these pictures were scanned. Of the many images he made from the trip, 81 were reproduced as aquatints for the book. Scenes include subjects from the entire journey, from Boston, through New York and Pennsylvania, down the Ohio to Cairo, up the Mississippi to St. Louis, and all the way to the headwaters of the Missouri. Bodmer’s works from this trip were recognised as among the most painted images ever made of the region at that time, and included many depiction of local culture, artefacts and scenery. Options such as border sizes, background and certain text may be edited and changed if you like. Just click the customise button. This image has been edited to adjust for age and discoloration, and to repair any major defects. The images are reproduced here from very high resolution files, so you can be confident that the quality will remain the best. The images have been edited and cleaned up. I originally ordered this print in a larger size but was not pleased with the clarity of it. When I contacted Zazzle, they responded really quickly and were very helpful. I was able to reorder the print in a smaller size and it was shipped to me within a couple of weeks. The print was packaged well to ensure there was no damage during transit (Eco friendly, too!), and I am really pleased with it. I am so grateful to the customer service team for the professional way they handled my order. I had this printed on matt finish card and I was really pleased with the quality. The colours were rich and the image sharp.
