It is an unsigned painting, but van Gogh makes mention of the painting in several letters to his brother Theo. About the artist: Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Post Impressionist painter whose work was most noteable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold colour.
