Imperial Fritillaries in a Copper Vase / Fritillaries in a Copper Vase (Fritillaires, couronne impériale dans un vase de cuivre), painted in 1887 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Paris. Tall orange-red fritillaries rise from a copper vase against a blue field built from separate strokes of colour. Painted in Paris, the work reflects Van Gogh's contact with Paul Signac and his selective interest in Neo-Impressionist techniques. The complementary blue-and-orange scheme and dotted background energise the still life without turning it into strict Pointillism.
