    Irises (1889) by Van Gogh is a vintage post impressionism fine art floral nature painting. A group of purple bearded irises and a single white iris flower growing in a garden. It was one of his first paintings while he was at the asylum in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. In 1987 it became the most expensive painting ever sold. About the artist: Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853-1890) was a post impressionist painter whose work was most noteable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold colour.
